A year of growth for Biztech

Biztech’s annual meeting was told that the technology forum for Milton Keynes and SEMLEP has seen a 14% growth in membership in the last year.

At the meeting at UCMK in Central Milton Keynes on Thursday, March 30, Biztech’s chairman, Fredi Nonyelu, said the forum is continuing to evolve its business model and the value it gives its members because “the ecosystem deserves a habitat.”

Silvia Vitiello, a Partner at Kingston Smith, chairs Biztech’s Advisory Board and she spoke at the AGM. The Advisory Board is a group of high profile representatives from universities, businesses and SEMLEP, which meets twice per annum to bubble up strategies and would be continuing to do so.

The meeting also heard that Biztech’s events had been more successful in the previous year and the forum has seen growth in its social media followers during the last 12 months.

Events in the pipeline for the rest of 2017 included an Ask the Expert workshop on May 3 into the subject of the new General Data Protection Regulations and the its impact on business.

Coming up later in May is a planned showcase visit

In October, Biztech is aiming to launch the BrightSparc Awards and visit a hidden technology gem in Milton Keynes.

Fredi Nonyelu explained to the meeting that the Management Board comes up with ideas and initiatives, which the forum facilitates.

Biztech founder member Elizabeth Sheldon, of Evidence Talks, informed the meeting of the upcoming MK Innovates STEM Festival, being held in Middleton Hall, Central Milton Keynes, in July.

Technology companies, manufacturing companies and educational institutions will be present offering opportunities to interact with equipment such as robots and augmented reality.
The event is open to everyone and especially school children, undergraduates, post graduates and job-seekers.
