Jon is the programme manager of the recently awarded £69M Cranfield Hydrogen Integration Incubator (CH2i). The funding, the largest Cranfield has ever secured, will spearhead research and development of the first major hydrogen technology hub to demonstrate the potential of hydrogen as a net zero aviation fuel. Since joining Cranfield, Jon has been involved in pan-university activities around clean fuels and transport, particularly automotive, autonomy, energy, and aviation. He has many years of experience developing and managing technical innovations, including five years in Innovate UK.
His career has spanned 25 years of telecommunications R&D in academia and industry, including as a Royal Society Industry Fellow and delivering a lecture at the Royal Institution of Great Britain. He has led numerous R&D activities, authored or co-authored numerous papers and several books, and filed several patents. He is a Chartered Engineer and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, the Institute of Telecommunications Professionals, and the Higher Education Academy.
