On 3 March 2026, the Robotics Industry Showcase in Milton Keynes brought together some of the UK’s most exciting minds and technologies in robotics, automation, and AI. Hosted by Innovate UK and its partners, the event delivered exactly what it promised: a dynamic, real world demonstration of ideas in motion.

Robotics Industry Showcase of Real-World Innovation

From the moment the exhibition opened, it was clear this was not just another industry event. The showcase highlighted how robotics is actively transforming sectors ranging from smart cities and infrastructure to healthcare, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing.

The event featured a wide range of live demonstrations including autonomous vehicles, infrastructure maintenance robots, adult sized humanoids, and healthcare robots. These made the innovation tangible. These were not future concepts but working solutions tackling real challenges today.

Exhibiting Innovation First-Hand

As an exhibitor, I had the opportunity to showcase our ATI Programme funded autonomous civil aircraft ground refuelling robot demonstrator. It was a fantastic experience to present our work alongside so many cutting edge innovations and to engage directly with industry leaders, researchers, and potential collaborators.

The exhibition floor, particularly the Robotics Runway, created an environment where technology could speak for itself. Seeing robots in action and discussing their deployment in real world environments sparked meaningful and practical conversations.

A Strong, Connected Robotics Community

One of the standout aspects of the event was the sense of community. The event was brilliantly organised, and huge credit goes to the Innovate UK Business Connect team for bringing together such a vibrant ecosystem.

Events like this are invaluable. They create a space where industry, academia, policymakers, and innovators can connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate on shaping the future of robotics in the UK.

Conversations That Matter

Beyond the technology, it was the conversations that made the event truly impactful. It was great to reconnect with colleagues I had not seen in years, while also meeting new contacts across the robotics sector.

Discussions around automation, deployment challenges, and achieving real world impact were particularly insightful. There was a shared focus on moving beyond prototypes towards scalable, deployable solutions that deliver measurable value.

More Than an Exhibition

The event offered far more than just demos. Key features included:

  • The Accelerate Robotics Summit, with sessions on adoption, productivity, and investment
  • The Solution Hub, focused on practical challenges and innovation pitches
  • One to one meetings that enabled targeted, high value networking

Together, these elements created a well rounded experience that balanced inspiration with practical outcomes.

Shaping the Future of UK Robotics

The Robotics Industry Showcase 2026 reinforced the UK’s position as a leader in robotics and intelligent systems. More importantly, it highlighted the importance of collaboration in turning innovation into impact.

Whether you are building, implementing, regulating, or funding robotics, events like this provide a vital platform to discover what is working now and what comes next.

As the sector continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the future of robotics in the UK is not just being imagined, it is already in motion.
