Milton Keynes Council has issued traffic orders on nine footpaths around Central Milton Keynes (CMK) to warn people of the trial which will be evaluating how the pods travel around the areas safely.
Speaking to OneMK, the council have stressed that safety is paramount and the pods can only operate with a driver in the vehicle, who can steer and stop the vehicle.
The vehicles which will be seen in these areas in the next few months and will have lights and warning sounds and have a classification from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Advisory signs will be also be placed along the routes to warn pedestrians.
The pods will be operating at low speed, with watchers present, and at this time the public will not be able to travel in them.
Initially there will be only one or two pods operating, and measures will be taken to give advance information about the operation.
