Biztech Innovation Roundtable Launches

Biztech Innovation Roundtable: A New Space for Collaboration and Forward Thinking

Biztech Technology Forum launches the Biztech Innovation Roundtable, a new initiative designed to bring together leaders from across the region to explore emerging technologies, share insights, and shape the future of our local innovation ecosystem. To begin, the first one hour session will take place online on Wednesday 4th February at 12:00. This initial gathering aims to set a strong foundation for what promises to become a cornerstone of Biztech’s community‑building efforts.

Innovation Roundtable: A Platform for Meaningful Dialogue

The Innovation Roundtable was created to give business leaders, academics, founders, and public‑sector partners a dedicated online space to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the digital economy. In particular, the inaugural session will focus on AI adoption and digital transformation.

Participants will have the chance to step away from day‑to‑day pressures and engage in open, strategic conversation. Moreover, the format will encourage honest discussion, practical insight, and collaborative problem‑solving. All essential ingredients for a thriving innovation ecosystem.

Key Themes for the First Biztech Innovation Roundtable

  • AI readiness and skills across SMEs.

In turn, insights learned from this discussion will help shape Biztech’s programme of events, support services, and policy engagement throughout 2026.

A Catalyst for Future Collaboration

The Biztech Innovation Roundtable is more than a discussion forum — it is a catalyst for action. By bringing together diverse voices, Biztech aims to accelerate innovation, strengthen networks, and ensure that organisations across the region can thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Looking ahead, future sessions will explore topics such as data‑driven decision‑making, sustainable technology, and commercialising research. With opportunities for members to contribute directly to the agenda.

Looking Ahead

Biztech is committed to building a vibrant, connected, and forward‑thinking tech community. The launch of the Innovation Roundtable marks an important step in that journey. We look forward to welcoming even more voices into the conversation as the series grows.

If you’d like to take part, speak in future sessions or share ideas for upcoming themes, Biztech would be delighted to hear from you.

Foundations of Research and Development for SMEs

Henry Kafeman emphasises that successful R&D in SMEs begins not with building technology, but with careful preparation. Before committing resources, businesses must validate market need, assess competitors, and ensure their idea is commercially viable in terms of pricing and cost. He highlights the importance of early consideration of intellectual property, regulatory requirements, and the skills and funding needed to progress. R&D should also be viewed within a wider business context, including marketing, operations, and sustainability. Ultimately, Kafeman argues that disciplined, ongoing planning across the full product lifecycle is essential to minimise risk and turn ideas into viable, market-ready solutions.

Spotlight on Biztech Innovation Challenge Workshop

For decades, telecom innovation was defined by speed—faster downloads, lower latency, greater capacity. As the industry moves toward the 2030s and 6G, that model is shifting. The next era will be shaped by intelligence, reach, and security. AI‑native networks will sense, predict, and self‑heal in real time. Non‑terrestrial networks will extend connectivity across land, sea, and sky, removing dead zones. Quantum‑safe technologies will protect data against emerging threats from quantum computing. Together, these advances transform the network from passive infrastructure into an adaptive, always‑available system that operates seamlessly in the background while supporting a fully connected world at global scale.
