Biztech/UCMK Ask the Expert Event on the Future of Aviation to 2050

26 June 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm BST

How can this exciting new development benefit your business?

A new £65 million Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) to be built at Cranfield University will spearhead the UK’s research into digital aviation technology.

Once constructed, DARTeC will provide research facilities unprecedented in Europe.

The centre will address such research challenges facing the aviation industry as:

• the integration of drones into civilian airspace

• increasing the efficiency of airports through technological advances

• creating safe, secure shared airspace through secure data communication infrastructures

• increasing the reliability and availability of aircraft through self-sensing, self-aware technologies

Game-changing technologies such as a virtual air traffic control tower and next-generation radar technologies on the University’s licensed airport will also provide a Civil Aviation Authority-approval route that promises increased efficiency, flexibility and capacity.

The research at Cranfield will develop solutions for the aviation sector in the 21st century through collaboration between universities, business, government and regulatory authorities.

Fredi Nonyelu, Biztech’s chairman, said: “This major development is sure to power the development of a new technology hub of collaborative businesses and academia within the Milton Keynes and SEMLEP area.

“This is set to drive investment, jobs and lucrative opportunities in the aviation sector. The promotion of aviation via this event matches Biztech’s mission precisely. We want to see businesses of all sizes gather at this event to find out more about the opportunities available to them.”

Biztech is delighted to have secured Jim Angus, commercial director for the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre at Cranfield, to speak at the Biztech/UCMK Ask The Expert event at UCMK, in Central Milton Keynes, from 5.30pm on June 26.

The IVHM, while maintaining a strong focus on aerospace, is also aiming to develop generic IVHM technologies and solutions that span multiple markets, including defence and security.

Tickets cost £15 plus VAT for Biztech Members and £18 plus VAT for non members, ticket price includes light refreshments.
