Let's talk

Accessibility Statement

What we have built this site to do, what we have tested, and how to tell us when it fails you.

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That means it should work with a keyboard alone, work with a screen reader, survive being zoomed to 200%, and never rely on colour alone to tell you something.

Where we are

On 3 September 2026 we ran an automated audit (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A and AA) over nineteen pages covering every template on the site, in both the light and dark themes, and again at a phone width. It found no failures. Google Lighthouse scores the site 100 for accessibility on every page we tested.

Two things it did find, and we fixed the same day: in dark mode the logo in the header was a link with no name a screen reader could read out, and the greyed-out end of the article pager was too faint against its background.

What that does and does not mean

An automated audit catches perhaps half of what matters. It can tell you a contrast ratio is wrong; it cannot tell you a link’s wording is unhelpful, or that a diagram’s description misses the point. We have not yet had this site tested by disabled people. That is the honest gap, and it is the next thing we want to do.

What we have done deliberately

  • Every page works with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible.
  • Colour is never the only signal, and every colour pair is measured rather than estimated.
  • Animation is switched off automatically if your device asks for that.
  • Headings run in order and there is a skip link to the main content.
  • A dark theme that follows your system setting, with its own measured contrast.
  • Every image has alternative text, including the diagrams and photographs inside articles brought across from our previous website.
  • Nothing is hidden behind a hover, and nothing times out.

Known limitations

  • Some images imported from the old site are small, and go soft when zoomed a long way.
  • Two article images are tables of figures rendered as pictures. Their alternative text describes what the table shows, but the numbers themselves are not available as text.
  • Our enquiry and newsletter forms are embedded from HubSpot. We control the page around them, not the markup inside them. If one of those forms gets in your way, email or ring us and we will take your enquiry that way instead.

Tell us

If something here gets in your way, email general.manager@biztech.org.uk or ring 0330 127 3454 and say what happened and what you were using. We will fix it, and we will tell you when we have.
